The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 12 minutes, Humbert Douffett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Charlottetown AFC and the Mulvihill players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Charlottetown AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humbert Douffett to maneuver through the defense. Mulvihill's Humberto Medley got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 16th minute Eddie Carrière shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norberto Manuel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodrigo Broussard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Oswaldo Sands tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Israel Cartier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Sands having to interfere. After having played for 24 minutes, Humberto Medley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mulvihill's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Medley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Augustin Grondin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Charlottetown AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mulvihill the free kick. Rodrigo Broussard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Rodrigo Broussard made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Mulvihill getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Rudolf Brochu hit a great ball. The supporters of Charlottetown AFC booed when Mulvihill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Paimboeuf didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo Sands acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 63rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Hung Parson. 65 minutes into the game, Charlottetown AFC's Israel Cartier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oswaldo Sands made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Eddie Carrière kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After 81 played minutes Mulvihill got a freekick which was hit by Eddie Carrière. Norberto Manuel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mulvihill. Oswaldo Sands took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Israel Cartier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Charlottetown AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
