An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Nixon in the 23rd minute of play forced Whaletown FC's goalkeeper Arturo Adair to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Charlie Croft had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With 28 minutes on the clock, Lindsey Rodrigues commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Whaletown FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! Andrew Huppé walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Van Nunn kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cloridorme's zone, Arnoldo Contreras stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Buddy Peachey came out of the goal and Arnoldo Contreras tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arnoldo Contreras struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Buddy Peachey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whaletown FC. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnoldo Contreras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Doyle Bonner charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Doyle Bonner the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Van Nunn couldn't finish the play. Bertrand Tracy charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bertrand Tracy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th minute there was a penalty for Cloridorme. Arnoldo Contreras's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Buddy Peachey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Arturo Adair showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damien Béland in the 94th minute of the match. In the 99th minute, Charlie Croft got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
