Howard Mayberry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justin Medrano having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Newark AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Francis Keene came free, but Palmer Brooks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alden McNally sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francis Keene stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alden McNally in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Palmer Brooks saved Newark AFC from getting behind. In the 54th minute, Yong Autier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Palmer Brooks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francis Keene, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Francis Keene had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oliver Lloyd during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Justin Medrano had in the 79thth minute some difficulties stopping Wilburn Marcus's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Wilburn Marcus took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Justin Medrano. Justin Medrano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Lane Littlejohn was shown his second yellow card after 90 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
