Stevie Altman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Theron Richer went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. New Orleans FC's Li Zhang got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Li Zhang hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Carlton Bonsaint's late challenge caught a New Orleans FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlton Bonsaint helped the player get up and apologised. Carlton Bonsaint kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After having played for 33 minutes, Whitney Grubb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Orleans FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Whitney Grubb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paris Haas was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Frankie Ingram capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Frankie Ingram really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. If Whitney Grubb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 47 minutes into the match, New Orleans FC's goal looked a bit too open when Theron Richer came free, but Stevie Altman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Theron Richer scored 1-3 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stevie Altman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Whitney Grubb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paris Haas having to interfere. Dino Boncoeur kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. If Frankie Ingram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Whitney Grubb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paris Haas having to interfere. The supporters of New Orleans FC booed when Charlemagne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlton Bonsaint didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Whitney Grubb left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New Orleans FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Charlemagne were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over New Orleans FC's much stronger midfield.
