Spectators: 6717 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1717, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Trent Bourgeau kicked off to start the match. With an all-out effort, Winisk's Matt Reeder threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Elijah Edwards, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Alvin Carlton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Bryce McBride tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, Sombra AFC's goalkeeper Matt Reeder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elijah Edwards. In the 9th minute, Alvin Carlton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bryce McBride took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trent Bourgeau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Winisk booed when Sombra AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugues Lott didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carl Ellis spun around in front of the goal 16 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Sombra AFC's goal. Carl Ellis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Reeder having to interfere. A collision led to Winisk getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Patrick Meeks hit a great ball. Bruce Babin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Reeder having to interfere. When Sombra AFC's Alvin Carlton in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Winisk's goalie prevented a goal. If Alvin Carlton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Alvin Carlton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sombra AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alvin Carlton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bryce McBride breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mitchel Charpie took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 41st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Matt Reeder. Sombra AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Bryce McBride showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Terence Glass, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 51st match minute, Sombra AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randy Dionne to maneuver through the defense. Carl Ellis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Reeder having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Carl Ellis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th match minute, Sombra AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terence Glass to maneuver through the defense. Elijah Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matt Reeder having to interfere. Matt Reeder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Ellis in the 69th minute of play. Bruce Babin charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bruce Babin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sombra AFC booed when Winisk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce Babin didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trent Bourgeau in the 72nd minute of play forced Winisk's goalkeeper Bryce McBride to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Winisk's goalkeeper Bryce McBride had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alvin Carlton. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carl Ellis in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matt Reeder saved Sombra AFC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Winisk's zone, Alvin Carlton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bryce McBride came out of the goal and Alvin Carlton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carl Ellis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sombra AFC's zone, Elijah Edwards stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matt Reeder came out of the goal and Elijah Edwards tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
