Vincent Velazquez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mattice. Benito Parrish fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Cornett having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Mattice's Vincent Velazquez threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Branden Irvin, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Maryfield AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Branden Irvin scored to the left of an out of position Vincent Velazquez, making the score, 1-0. John Cornett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roderick Vincent, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Benito Parrish managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maryfield AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Benito Parrish was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John Cornett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mattice's goalkeeper John Cornett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Maryfield AFC booed when Mattice was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alphonso Bowser didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Branden Irvin was the one to do the kick off. After 52 played minutes Maryfield AFC got a freekick which was hit by Jarrett Locke. After some careless play in the Maryfield AFC defense, Clemente Asselin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vincent Velazquez. The Maryfield AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vincent Velazquez should have stopped the shot. In the 68th minute, Clemente Asselin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mattice's supporters crossed their fingers, but Branden Irvin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Branden Irvin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Whitney Henrichon fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maryfield AFC's protests and gave Whitney Henrichon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st match minute, Maryfield AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Whitney Henrichon to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Leopoldo Navarro managed to get in a good position for a shot.
