Ovalle's Cristofer Ornaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loreto Badilla in the 3rd minute of play. A collision led to Provincial Osorno getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. José Ignacio Oliva hit a great ball. Hermelando Vilches's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Severo Ebensperger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. When Frances Sales came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Provincial Osorno fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frances Sales couldn't finish the play. Claudio Súnico charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Claudio Súnico the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Frances Sales sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute, Héctor David Schindler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Provincial Osorno booed when Ovalle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Súnico didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frances Sales in the 40th minute of play forced Ovalle's goalkeeper Cristofer Ornaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hermelando Vilches recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Ignacio Oliva during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Provincial Osorno getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. José Ignacio Oliva hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hermelando Vilches stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dalmacio Roa was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 71st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 78th minute, Loreto Badilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Severo Ebensperger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Israel Cares, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. José Ignacio Oliva hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. When Ovalle's Hermelando Vilches in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Provincial Osorno's goalie prevented a goal. Loreto Badilla struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Cristofer Ornaz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Provincial Osorno. Cristofer Ornaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loreto Badilla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
