Washington Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléber Paiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 12 played minutes Ipueirinha got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Barreto. In the 15th minute João Francisco Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Didi Mumbach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that João Francisco Chaves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Didi Mumbach was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tostão Barreto during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ipueirinha's Tostão Barreto got a free kick in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josué Gomes to make the kick off. Kléber Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Washington Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Armando Netto came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Ipueirinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armando Netto couldn't finish the play. Nilton Cordeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nilton Cordeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ipueirinha booed when Salobre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilton Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute of the match, Josué Gomes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Washington Leão saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Washington Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Josué Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Ipueirinha's Washington Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Ipueirinha from getting a goal against them. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Washington Leão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Salobre fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when Salobre's Claudinei Pinheiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 94th minute Josué Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Salobre's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
