Eduardo Tresselt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 43 played minutes, Flumed FC's Hugo Linares shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jerônimo Vianna came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Flumed FC reached it. Jerônimo Vianna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Vieira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the match, Indepndente's goalkeeper Jerônimo Vianna had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcinho Mendes. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vicente Vieira to make the kick off. Régis Fantini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eduardo Tresselt having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júnior de Lara during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Indepndente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior de Lara to maneuver through the defense.
