Spectators: 7217 (Terracing: 5414, Seating: 1660, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Leopoldo Dracena started the match with the kick off. In the 6th match minute, Red Bull Pelotas-RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fernando Tande to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Nunes in the 8th minute of play forced Red Bull Pelotas-RS's goalkeeper Darin Gregory to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Décio Mello came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Red Bull Pelotas-RS's Leopoldo Dracena. But to his dismay, Leopoldo Dracena quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After 25 minutes, Frank Sampaio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Benevenuto and the Red Bull Pelotas-RS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes Benevenuto got a freekick which was hit by Frank Sampaio. Décio Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Leopoldo Dracena might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Décio Mello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leopoldo Dracena ran back to his position shaking his head. Armindo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Darin Gregory tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erik Porto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Armindo Cordeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elias Nunes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Darin Gregory made a huge save. Benevenuto's Décio Mello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Dracena in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Red Bull Pelotas-RS's goal looked a bit too open when Armindo Cordeiro came free, but Darin Gregory reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Armindo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Darin Gregory tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rômulo Pena hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. If Frank Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elias Nunes was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 73rd minute. Benevenuto's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 82nd match minute, Benevenuto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Porto to maneuver through the defense. Armindo Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Darin Gregory tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Leopoldo Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Red Bull Pelotas-RS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
