An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Paulista in the 9th minute of play forced Ferreira's goalkeeper Baltazar Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Passos having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ferreira's Tiaguinho Dantas got a free kick in the 14th minute. Baltazar Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Paulista, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the match, Ferreira's goal looked a bit too open when Leonardo Paulista came free, but Baltazar Melo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute, Diego Brasil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ferreira's Baltazar Melo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Márcio Queiroz in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ferreira's zone, Márcio Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baltazar Melo came out of the goal and Márcio Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th minute, Leonardo Paulista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leonardo Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Baltazar Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Ferreira getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Lauro Cearense hit a great ball. If Leonardo Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Jorge Souza made the kick off in the second half. Leonardo Paulista received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Baltazar Melo came out and tried to block the shot, but Leonardo Paulista slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 57th minute. When Márcio Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Baxio EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Márcio Queiroz couldn't finish the play. After 65 played minutes Baxio EC got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Vieira. After having played for 69 minutes, Márcio Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baxio EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Márcio Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leonardo Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Baltazar Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baltazar Melo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leonardo Paulista's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Márcio Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Melo having to interfere. Lauro Passos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Souza in the 77th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dorival Faustino during the 78th minute. When the match was over Baxio EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ferreira throughout the match.
