If Mário Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amadeu Vides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Waldemar Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mário Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldemar Gaspar having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severino Souza in the 32nd minute of play forced F.C Red Bull Salzburg's goalkeeper Waldemar Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Caioca SC's goal looked a bit too open when Waldir de Souza came free, but Felippe Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute, Caioca SC's Amadeu Vides ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Waldemar Gaspar. Waldemar Gaspar yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Felippe Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldir de Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Waldir de Souza to make the kick off. With 55 minutes on the clock, Remo Costa commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Caioca SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of F.C Red Bull Salzburg:s goal. In the 79th minute Amadeu Vides shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amadeu Vides blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Waldemar Gaspar having to make a save. Waldemar Gaspar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amadeu Vides's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulisses Sarmento in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Waldemar Gaspar saved F.C Red Bull Salzburg from getting behind. Flavinho Freitas hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Caioca SC had played much better football throughout.
