The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 10th match minute, Itaicaba SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei Mota to maneuver through the defense. When E.C. MOGIANA's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Paulo Rosa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute of the match Gernando Barbosa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nilton Campidelis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gilberto Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Vítor Mendes in the 22nd minute of play. If José Paulo Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Paulo Rosa in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gilberto Faria, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jano Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute, José Paulo Rosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The E.C. MOGIANA players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Itaicaba SS were winning 0-1.
After 58 minutes of play, E.C. MOGIANA's José Paulo Rosa made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gilberto Faria was left in no man's land by his defense there! Caio Sanches's late challenge caught a E.C. MOGIANA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caio Sanches helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Itaicaba SS getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Caio Sanches hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wágner Rezende in the 70th minute of play forced Itaicaba SS's goalkeeper Gilberto Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilberto Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Paulo Rosa in the 73rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Paulo Rosa in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto Faria saved Itaicaba SS from getting behind. Gilberto Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. If Jano Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, José Paulo Rosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. E.C. MOGIANA's supporters rose to their feet, but José Paulo Rosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto Faria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute, José Paulo Rosa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The E.C. MOGIANA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. José Vítor Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Gilberto Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, E.C. MOGIANA's goal looked a bit too open when Amauri Nogueira came free, but Nilton Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, E.C. MOGIANA's Nilton Campidelis got control of the ball when Caio Sanches tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jano Seco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilberto Faria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. If José Paulo Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. E.C. MOGIANA were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
