The referee felt a red card was in order, 35 minutes into the game, when Guga Rossi put in a rough tackle. 34 minutes into the game, one of Umburuna:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 36th minute, the referee gave Esquadrão Atleticano a penalty. Dito Paraibano looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Joel Favoretto. Joel Favoretto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adalberto Mattos in the 40th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute, Esquadrão Atleticano's Adalberto Mattos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jorginho Netto was the one to do the kick off.
