In the 6th minute Dênis Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafa Capixaba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 11 played minutes Malta AD got a freekick which was hit by Edgar do Nascimento. If Dênis Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the match, Malta AD's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Perez came free, but Rafa Capixaba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute Zé Roberto Perez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafa Capixaba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute, Zé Paulo Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 23 played minutes, Argyrita's Dito Massa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rafa Capixaba came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Argyrita reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dênis Carioca in the 24th minute of play forced Malta AD's goalkeeper Rafa Capixaba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dênis Carioca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Argyrita's zone, Edgar do Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laerte Vergílio came out of the goal and Edgar do Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Argyrita getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Dito Massa hit a great ball. The supporters of Malta AD booed when Argyrita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dênis Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Edgar do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Gonçalo Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 minutes, William Tepedino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Argyrita and the Malta AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gonçalo Teixeira made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Zé Roberto Perez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafa Capixaba was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After having played for 57 minutes, Gonçalo Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malta AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonçalo Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dênis Cariocas short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Rafa Capixaba to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Malta AD getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Edgar do Nascimento hit a great ball. Rafa Capixaba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juvenal Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd minute, Guilherme Mandrak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Malta AD getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Virgílio Saraiva hit a great ball. Dito Massa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 76th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rafa Capixaba. Malta AD's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 79 minutes into the game, Edgar do Nascimento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Laerte Vergílio was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee felt a red card was in order, 89 minutes into the game, when Luís Fabiano Ortiz put in a rough tackle. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Malta AD! The goalkeeper, Rafa Capixaba, was totally fooled by Argyrita's Dito Massa, who 91 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Rafa Capixaba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dênis Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Argyrita's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
