A collision led to Brenha AD getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Franklin Vides hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the match, Brenha AD's goal looked a bit too open when Edson Vasconcelos came free, but Válter Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rui Koehler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elivélton Maranhense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brenha AD's Válter Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson Vasconcelos in the 19th minute of play. A throw-in in the 24th minute of the game was made by Raúl Meireles with Elivélton Maranhense as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Válter Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Oliveira in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Vasconcelos in the 28th minute of play forced Brenha AD's goalkeeper Válter Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Válter Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eriberto Dante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Franklin Vides was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 32 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vargedo booed when Brenha AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Vides didn't get a good kick on the ball. Válter Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 35 played minutes Brenha AD got a freekick which was hit by Cristóvão Baptista. After some careless play in the Brenha AD defense, Eriberto Dante kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Válter Domingues. The Brenha AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Válter Domingues should have stopped the shot. In the 39th minute, Orlando Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute Edson Vasconcelos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Válter Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Brenha AD's goal looked a bit too open when Edson Vasconcelos came free, but Válter Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rafa Tinoco to strike the kick off in the second half. Luciano Oliveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Domingues having to interfere. Edson Vasconcelos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Válter Domingues came out and tried to block the shot, but Edson Vasconcelos slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 53rd minute. Válter Domingues made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eriberto Dante in the 57th minute. If Magno Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vargedo's Betinho Arce shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 60th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Válter Domingues but with some difficulty. Válter Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Vasconcelos in the 66th minute of play. Luciano Oliveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Válter Domingues made a huge save. A collision led to Brenha AD getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Raúl Meireles hit a great ball. After 72 played minutes Vargedo got a freekick which was hit by Magno Martins. With his leg Válter Domingues managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Vargedo's Edson Vasconcelos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Brenha AD's Válter Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson Vasconcelos in the 78th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Vargedo's Válter Domingues threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edson Vasconcelos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 81st minute Vargedo were awarded a corner. Luciano Oliveira went to the cornerflag to take it. Válter Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Vasconcelos in the 82nd minute of play. When Rafa Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Brenha AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafa Tinoco couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Edson Vasconcelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Válter Domingues was relentless in the 97th minute of the game. When the match was over Vargedo could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Brenha AD throughout the match.
