Spectators: 7310 (Terracing: 5484, Seating: 1681, VIP seats: 145) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Valdemar Gomes kicked off to start the match. Osvaldinho de Medeiros who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of Michel Tande when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Pedro Paulo Cordeiro hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Pedro Paulo Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Narciso Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Walmyr Coutinho's late challenge caught a Ione EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Walmyr Coutinho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th match minute, CHELSEA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmyr Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, CHELSEA's Michel Tande got control of the ball when Narciso Cavalcante tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 21 minutes, Pedro Paulo Cordeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CHELSEA and the Ione EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ione EC were furious when Miguel Diniz was red carded, 24 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ione EC! Ione EC's Florencio Nevada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvaldo de Lara in the 29th minute of play. During the 31st minute of the match Walmyr Coutinho completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Walmyr Coutinho a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Walmyr Coutinho kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Aleandro Fernandes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michel Tande having to make a save. Paulo José Borges hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The Ione EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. CHELSEA were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osvaldinho de Medeiros to make the kick off. When Aleandro Fernandes came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Ione EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aleandro Fernandes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 61 minutes, Osvaldinho de Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ione EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldinho de Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Michel Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldinho de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. When Edvaldo de Lara fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CHELSEA's protests and gave Edvaldo de Lara a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes CHELSEA got a freekick which was hit by Edvaldo de Lara. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Osvaldinho de Medeiros in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Michel Tande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Osvaldinho de Medeiros in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michel Tande saved CHELSEA from getting behind. When the match clock showed 86 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Osvaldinho de Medeiros sped through CHELSEA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michel Tande. Michel Tande stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Osvaldinho de Medeiros's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the match, CHELSEA's Christian Neiva broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 94 minutes, Mateus Porto mouthed his way into the referee's book.
