In the 58th minute, Iuri Fantini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Caxias's Dadá de Barros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Caxias from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Caxias's zone, Humberto Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dadá de Barros came out of the goal and Humberto Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 91 minutes into the game, José Pedro Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caxias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S.C Internacional the free kick.
