After having played for 9 minutes, Alfredão da Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians Paulistano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredão da Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Beto Branco fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Corinthians's protests and gave Beto Branco a yellow card for diving instead. Beto Branco hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The supporters of SC Corinthians booed when Corinthians Paulistano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavo Nogueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Didi Arce in the 19th minute of play forced SC Corinthians's goalkeeper Andrézinho do Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Didi Arce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alfredão da Cunha scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andrézinho do Vale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th minute, Gugu Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Andrézinho do Vale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Andrézinho do Vale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Didi Arce's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

0-3 became the score in the 51st minute when Didi Arce elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Andrézinho do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Didi Arce in the 55th minute of the match. Ernani França kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Didi Arce in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. Alfredão da Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho do Vale having to interfere. Andrézinho do Vale made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Alfredão da Cunha sent off a good shot on target. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Corinthians fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! SC Corinthians's Juvenal Bittencourt got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Beto Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredão da Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Didi Arce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho do Vale having to interfere. Benicio Corderall's late challenge caught a SC Corinthians's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benicio Corderall helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Corinthians Paulistano getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Benicio Corderall hit a great ball. Corinthians Paulistano's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
