In the 33rd minute, Diogo Simões made a precise shot to the right of Umberto Velloso. AS Novelli's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 37th match minute, AS Novelli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 39 minutes, Douglas Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ibicua AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Douglas Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Osvaldo Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Gabriel Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot. AS Novelli's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabriel Capixaba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Freire breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Osvaldo Melo was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, AS Novelli's goalkeeper Umberto Velloso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Douglas Mello. When Jeferson Lago fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AS Novelli's protests and gave Jeferson Lago a yellow card for diving instead. Umberto Velloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Melo in the 65th minute of the match. Gabriel Capixaba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the match, Osvaldo Melo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Umberto Velloso, 0-2. Gabriel Capixaba might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcos Freire. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gabriel Capixaba ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in AS Novelli's zone, Osvaldo Melo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Umberto Velloso came out of the goal and Osvaldo Melo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 78 minutes into the match, Douglas Mello notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of AS Novelli's Umberto Velloso. Umberto Velloso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 81 played minutes Ibicua AD got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Simões. Marcos Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriel Capixaba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gabriel Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglas Mello got free with Umberto Velloso in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eriberto Souza struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Umberto Velloso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ibicua AD. Umberto Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Melo in the 91st minute of play. Douglas Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ibicua AD eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
