In the 4th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Acácio Monteiro to maneuver through the defense. 6 minutes into the match, C.A. River Guaíba's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Trevisan came free, but César Donatello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júnior Pitta was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 7th minute. Flamengo's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 9th minute, C.A. River Guaíba's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Júnior Pitta fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Zé Carlos Trevisan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Samuca Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Carlos Trevisan had several of the C.A. River Guaíba's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 25 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed César Donatello as he didn't even see the shot coming. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Zé Carlos Trevisan took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for César Donatello to make any attempt to save it. Júnior Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Donatello having to interfere. Tomás das Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. When Júnior Pitta came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júnior Pitta couldn't finish the play. Maurinho Macedo came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by C.A. River Guaíba's Samuca Sá. But to his dismay, Samuca Sá quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Samuca Sá to strike the kick off in the second half. Osvaldinho Ramalho hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. River Guaíba's zone, Matías França stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Donatello came out of the goal and Matías França tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Zé Carlos Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. César Donatello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos Trevisan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. César Donatello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos Trevisan in the 63rd minute of the match. 68 minutes into the match, Zé Carlos Trevisan notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of C.A. River Guaíba's César Donatello. César Donatello was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Virgílio França hit a great ball. Luís Passos kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute of the match Álvaro Luz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maurinho Macedo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Júnior Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. River Guaíba's zone, Zé Carlos Trevisan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Donatello came out of the goal and Zé Carlos Trevisan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Osvaldinho Ramalho during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 86th match minute, C.A. River Guaíba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldinho Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 5-2 when Júnior Pitta sped through C.A. River Guaíba's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of César Donatello. Flamengo's Maurinho Macedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo from getting a goal against them. In the 93rd minute, Matías França hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute, Acácio Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that Flamengo were the better team. Flamengo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
