Spectators: 7386 (Terracing: 5541, Seating: 1698, VIP seats: 147) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rubens Paraibano took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a rather tough play, EspartaFC's Agostinho Paraibano got a free kick in the 4th minute. Hílton Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but José Pedro Soares made a huge save. Diamantino Meirelles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubens Paraibano in the 11th minute of play. Hílton Garcias short, quick shot in the 12thth minute got José Pedro Soares to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Hílton Garcia who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of José Pedro Soares when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Virgílio do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hílton Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Soares having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Virgílio do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esporte Clube Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgílio do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Pedro Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute, EspartaFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Virgílio do Nascimento fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Flavinho Seco during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of EspartaFC booed when Esporte Clube Bahia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavinho Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Fred Barbosa managed to get in a good position for a shot. EspartaFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Fred Barbosa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diamantino Meirelles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 45th minute, Virgílio do Nascimento fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of José Pedro Soares, passed just outside the right post. José Pedro Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio do Nascimento in the 45th minute of play. Esporte Clube Bahia's Diamantino Meirelles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Barbosa in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Virgílio do Nascimento to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Virgílio do Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Hílton Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Hílton Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esporte Clube Bahia's supporters rose to their feet, but Hílton Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Pedro Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hílton Garcia in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Pedro Soares saved EspartaFC from getting behind. In the 67thth minute of the game Virgílio do Nascimento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but EspartaFC's José Pedro Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Hílton Garcia notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of EspartaFC's José Pedro Soares. José Pedro Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 72 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for EspartaFC! EspartaFC:s José Pedro Soares showed great skill when he stopped Luiz Guilherme dos Santos:s penalty. Agostinho Paraibano charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agostinho Paraibano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Agostinho Paraibano hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 77th minute, Hílton Garcia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 78 minutes into the match, EspartaFC's goal looked a bit too open when Virgílio do Nascimento came free, but José Pedro Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hílton Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Virgílio do Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. José Pedro Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hílton Garcia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. There was no doubt that Esporte Clube Bahia were the better team. Esporte Clube Bahia's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
