After a rather tough play, Bacue EC's Tião Brasil got a free kick in the 6th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Esporte Clube Bahia's Geovani Camargo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jefferson Lira. That made the score 1-0 after 12 minutes of play. 20 minutes into the game, Virgílio do Nascimento recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jefferson Lira. Virgílio do Nascimento showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. After a rather tough play, Esporte Clube Bahia's Natanael de Mendonça got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Dinei Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 29th match minute, Bacue EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Naldo Toscano to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute of the match Luiz Guilherme dos Santos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jefferson Lira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, Bacue EC's Jefferson Lira got control of the ball when Geovani Camargo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dorival Meira charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dorival Meira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bacue EC made a substitution. Fausto de Souza replaced Zé Augusto Seco. Dorival Meira hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. If Gláuber Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Bacue EC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Nico Madureira hit a great ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bacue EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 47 minutes, Esporte Clube Bahia's Luiz Guilherme dos Santos got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Jefferson Lira.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Virgílio do Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Bacue EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tião Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Dinei Pontes hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. After 65 minutes Bacue EC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luiz Guilherme dos Santos who took care of the corner kick. 67 minutes into the match, Bacue EC's goal looked a bit too open when Hílton Garcia came free, but Jefferson Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovani Camargo took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jefferson Lira. Jefferson Lira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Jefferson Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geovani Camargo, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Dalmo Leão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diamantino Meirelles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Natanael de Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jefferson Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th match minute, Bacue EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Naldo Toscano to maneuver through the defense. Jefferson Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hílton Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Cláudio da Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bacue EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esporte Clube Bahia the free kick. After 92 played minutes Bacue EC got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio da Costa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hílton Garcia in the 94th minute of play forced Bacue EC's goalkeeper Jefferson Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Esporte Clube Bahia had played much better football throughout.
