The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulão Antunes got free with João Adolfo Nogueira in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Andrézinho Viana's late challenge caught a Mattosinhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Andrézinho Viana helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Clube Atlético Piracicaba getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Andrézinho Viana hit a great ball. Clube Atlético Piracicaba's Carlos Augusto Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christiano Salles in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute Fernandinho Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Adolfo Nogueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clube Atlético Piracicaba's Carlos Augusto Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pedro Siqueira in the 19th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mattosinhos's zone, Fernandinho Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Adolfo Nogueira came out of the goal and Fernandinho Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Fernandinho Montenegro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Adolfo Nogueira was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. In the 35th match minute, Mattosinhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Breno Pirani to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Christiano Salles made the kick off in the second half. Nelsinho Queirós made in the 54th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Régis Ferreira immediately put the ball in play. Fernandinho Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fernandinho Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. João Adolfo Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrianinho Gaspar hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Fernandinho Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Adolfo Nogueira having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Clube Atlético Piracicaba players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
