An unexpectedly hard shot by Osmar Dracena in the 17th minute of play forced Grêmio dos Canudos EC's goalkeeper Frank Valladares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jerônimo Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. When Osmar Dracena came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Paris Saint Germain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osmar Dracena couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute Luiz Eduardo de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Valladares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Valladares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osmar Dracena in the 37th minute of play. The audience was convinced that João Pedro Pernambucano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edson Lopes was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Waldemar Motta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edson Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play.
