The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Cássio Camargo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Camassary's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cássio Camargo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot by Caetano Mota from long distance, 8 minutes into the match, got Romeu Paiva's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 13th match minute, Camassary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Camargo to maneuver through the defense. Gavea Rio's Romeu Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Camargo in the 20th minute of play. Cássio Camargo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Paiva having to interfere. Romeu Paiva was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 96th minute of the match Dorian Ramalho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Romeu Paiva showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
