The referee ignored Super Mengão's protests and gave Albertinho Custódio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th minute, Albertinho Custódio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th minute, Andrézinho Borges ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Teixeira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Andrézinho Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Teixeira having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Andrézinho Borges left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Caveiras FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Albertinho Custódio was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 22nd match minute, Super Mengão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertinho Custódio to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Super Mengão's goal looked a bit too open when Gildo Eger came free, but Francisco Teixeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ezequiel de Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ezequiel de Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Caveiras FC booed when Super Mengão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andrézinho Borges could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Francisco Teixeira made a huge save. Elivélton Cabral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andrézinho Borges in the 40thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Francisco Teixeira, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ezequiel de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After some careless play in the Super Mengão defense, Andrézinho Borges kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Francisco Teixeira. The Super Mengão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Francisco Teixeira should have stopped the shot.

Francisco Teixeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrézinho Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Caveiras FC's Andrézinho Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulão Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 62 minutes of play Super Mengão's Ezequiel de Senna was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Frank Saraiva's late challenge caught a Caveiras FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Saraiva helped the player get up and apologised. 65 minutes into the game, one of Super Mengão:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When Silvério de Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Super Mengão fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvério de Almeida couldn't finish the play. Through a series of nice moves, Super Mengão's Perivaldo de Moraes on his own came free in the 73rd minute of the match and shot 4-1 behind a disappointed Elivélton Cabral. Andrézinho Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Francisco Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Geovani Corrêa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Super Mengão's Perivaldo de Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elivélton Cabral came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Super Mengão's Geovani Corrêa. But to his dismay, Geovani Corrêa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. In the 92nd minute Paulão Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrézinho Borges in the 94th minute of play forced Super Mengão's goalkeeper Francisco Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, Perivaldo de Moraes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Super Mengão fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-4. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
