Dudu Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Trigo having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Paris Saint-Germain's goal looked a bit too open when Silas Barral came free, but Vitório de Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alessandro Figueiredo charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alessandro Figueiredo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 43rd minute, one of Paris Saint-Germain:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Paris Saint-Germain. The referee gave Maktub a penalty, 45 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Arlindo Lago, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Paris Saint-Germain's Vitório de Lara. 1-2. After the first half Maktub were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The tension between the Maktub and the Paris Saint-Germain players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luiz Fernando de Amaral kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Maktub's Frédson Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Maktub's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
