Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elói Cardoso in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Severino Arósio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 17th minute Waldemar Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdo Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Barathinaikos's Percy Carneiro got a free kick in the 20th minute. Paulo José Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Valdo Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, César Britto made a precise shot to the right of Valdo Barbosa. Barathinaikos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Severino Arósio made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Elói Cardoso sent off a good shot on target. Paulo José Vale's late challenge caught a Barathinaikos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Rubinho Gaspar hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rubinho Gaspar during the 65th minute. Mangaba's Severino Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elói Cardoso in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th match minute, Mangaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson Trevisan to maneuver through the defense. Elói Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Barathinaikos had played much better football throughout.
