Enio Bertassi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Nacional getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Beto de Castro hit a great ball. After 70 minutes, Beto de Castro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nacional and the Grêmio F.B.P.A players grew even worse after the yellow card.
