Edgar Moreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jarbas Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Duarte Paraibano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edgar Moreira. Roma esporte cluble's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Duarte Paraibano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Raí de Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Giovani Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aílton Falcão having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Barcelona FC's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Freitas came free, but Aílton Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Roma esporte cluble booed when Barcelona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinaldo Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jarbas Barbosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Edgar Moreira made a huge save. If Giovani Lopez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Jarbas Barbosa took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Edgar Moreira to make any attempt to save it. 37 minutes into the game, Duarte Paraibano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edgar Moreira. Duarte Paraibano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Duarte Paraibano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Edgar Moreira came out and tried to block the shot, but Duarte Paraibano slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 41st minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jarbas Barbosa to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Roma esporte cluble got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Terra. Jarbas Barbosa succeeded in the game's 53rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 5-0. Remo Freitas struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Aílton Falcão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Roma esporte cluble. Lenílson Terra might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aílton Falcão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lenílson Terra ran back to his position shaking his head. With splendid footwork Remo Freitas arrived in front of goal to shoot 5-1 by the left pole in the game's 70th minute. 73 minutes into the game, Barcelona FC's Duarte Paraibano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edgar Moreira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. Jarbas Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Remo Freitas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Aílton Falcão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Jarbas Barbosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aílton Falcão had great luck who in the 82ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Remo Freitas from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. The Barcelona FC fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Barcelona FC's Jarbas Barbosa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 91st minute, one of Roma esporte cluble:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Roma esporte cluble. Edgar Moreira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Duarte Paraibano went, in the 98th minute, to the upper right corner, 10-1 was the resulting score. Barcelona FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
