In the 3rd match minute, Atlético Mineiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurício Palmeira to maneuver through the defense. Franklin Porto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fausto Cardozo in the 4th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Franklin Porto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Enio Campidelis hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Guarimanzal's Fausto Cardozo got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rafael Bezerra came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Guarimanzal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Bezerra couldn't finish the play. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
