Murilo Reis took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gabriel Madureira. Gabriel Madureira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Celsinho Cavalcante blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gabriel Madureira having to make a save. Gabriel Madureira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernandão Arósio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as 2 de Julho EC's Fernandão Arósio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gabriel Madureira. That made the score 2-0 after 22 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Moraes in the 28th minute of play forced 2 de Julho EC's goalkeeper Aloísio Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute, Lucas Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Murilo Reis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Gabriel Madureira made a huge save. The supporters of 2 de Julho EC booed when Mauá was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 2 de Julho EC's Aloísio Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Cavalcante in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Fernandão Arósio fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Gabriel Madureira, passed just outside the right post. Murilo Reis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Gabriel Madureira made a huge save. Murilo Reis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gabriel Madureira firmly grabbed it by the left post. 2 de Julho EC's Aloísio Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Cabral in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernandão Arósio to make the kick off. Gabriel Madureira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Murilo Reis went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. But to his dismay, Clemente Vasconcelos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Gabriel Madureira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falcão Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernandão Arósio in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gabriel Madureira saved Mauá from getting behind. After 73 minutes, Murilo Reis made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. Mauá's Gabriel Madureira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Gabriel Madureira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Inácio Sergipano's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Dino Netto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Madureira having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Fernandão Arósio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gabriel Madureira was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. 86 minutes into the game, Ciro Cavalcante recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Aloísio Cordeiro. Ciro Cavalcante showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-1. The supporters of 2 de Julho EC booed when Mauá was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Murilo Reis came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the 2 de Julho EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Murilo Reis couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Mauá:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of 2 de Julho EC:s goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. 2 de Julho EC had played much better football throughout.
