With a little luck, Alagoas AD's Delfim Santos got control of the ball when Luizinho Aparecido tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felipe Quirino's late challenge caught a Alagoas AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felipe Quirino helped the player get up and apologised. 4 minutes into the game, one of Dunas SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Leandro Marinho had in the 6thth minute some difficulties stopping Alfredo Costa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Alagoas AD's goalkeeper Delfim Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luizinho Aparecido. 15 minutes into the match, Dunas SC's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Galvão came free, but Leandro Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 15 played minutes Dunas SC got a freekick which was hit by Aníbal Martins. After having played for 24 minutes, Mauro Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alagoas AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Dieguinho Viana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alagoas AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dunas SC the free kick. The long shot by Erivaldo Sergipano in the 28th minute really tested Delfim Santos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The audience was convinced that Mauro Carioca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leandro Marinho was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. In the 31st minute, Augusto Galvão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leandro Marinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 35 minutes into the match, Mauro Carioca notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Dunas SC's Leandro Marinho. Leandro Marinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Dunas SC booed when Alagoas AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cafu Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Augusto Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Alagoas AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Galvão couldn't finish the play. 44 minutes into the match, Mauro Carioca notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Dunas SC's Leandro Marinho. Leandro Marinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 48 played minutes Dunas SC got a freekick which was hit by Aníbal Martins. After the first half Alagoas AD were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Augusto Galvão was the one to do the kick off. Naldo Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56thth minute of the game Augusto Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dunas SC's Leandro Marinho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mauro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Leandro Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Augusto Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Carioca who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Leandro Marinho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Mauro Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro Marinho having to interfere. In the 67thth minute of the game Augusto Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dunas SC's Leandro Marinho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luizinho Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Alagoas AD getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Dieguinho Viana hit a great ball. Leandro Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Augusto Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro Marinho having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Dunas SC's zone, Mauro Carioca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leandro Marinho came out of the goal and Mauro Carioca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle sounded Alagoas AD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Dunas SC.
