Power Escanor FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edinho Arce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edinho Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Almir Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celso Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Olavo de Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Celso Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Almir Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexsandro Maranhense's late challenge caught a Apiaca SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexsandro Maranhense helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Apiaca SS booed when Power Escanor FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Almir Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Percy Batista's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olavo de Queiroz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Wágner Xavier got his second yellow card in the match during the 44th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 45 played minutes Apiaca SS got a freekick which was hit by Wágner Xavier. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elano de Mendonça to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Elano de Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot. Apiaca SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Elano de Mendonça was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristóvão Linares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 55 played minutes Apiaca SS got a freekick which was hit by Acácio Sabóia. Acácio Sabóia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Power Escanor FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Guto de Amaral hit a great ball. In the last second Olavo de Queiroz throw himself and got hold of the ball when Celso Valle in the 65thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Gildo Linhares hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Acácio Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Cristóvão Linares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elano de Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Olavo de Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Valle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Willian Paes during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
