In the 2nd minute, Aílton Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute Afonsinho Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gencho Karaganev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Alegren struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Joaquim Diniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galicia EC. David Alegren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Joaquim Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Galicia EC's Gencho Karaganev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdo Medeiros in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute Afonsinho Fernandez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gencho Karaganev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cabeco's goalkeeper couldn't reach when David Alegren 28 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Gencho Karaganev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonsinho Fernandez in the 36th minute of the match. David Alegren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Emerson Ferreira came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Galicia EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emerson Ferreira couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, David Alegren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galicia EC's supporters rose to their feet, but David Alegren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Diniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Alegren to strike the kick off in the second half. João Paulo Godoi hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Afonsinho Fernandez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emerson Ferreira might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquim Diniz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emerson Ferreira ran back to his position shaking his head. Gencho Karaganev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonsinho Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquim Diniz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rui Trigo went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 77th match minute, Cabeco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilmar Rocha to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Trigo in the 81st minute of play forced Cabeco's goalkeeper Joaquim Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Emerson Ferreira made a precise shot to the right of Joaquim Diniz. Cabeco's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Emerson Ferreira hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After 93 minutes, João Adolfo Vergílio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cabeco and the Galicia EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. There was no doubt that Galicia EC were the better team. Galicia EC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
