Inácio de Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nelsinho Galvão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Inácio de Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Andrew F.C's zone, Inácio de Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Galvão came out of the goal and Inácio de Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Andrew F.C's goalkeeper Nelsinho Galvão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Andrew F.C's Raimundo Pena got a free kick in the 11th minute. Marcinho Breckenfeld took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 12th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nelsinho Galvão. Andrew F.C's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Kiko de Medeiros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelsinho Galvão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Andrew F.C got a freekick which was hit by Silvério Souto. Joel de Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulisses Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Andrew F.C's Nelsinho Galvão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio de Mendonça in the 35th minute of play. When Ulisses Gaspar came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Andrew F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulisses Gaspar couldn't finish the play. Andrew F.C's Nelsinho Galvão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inácio de Mendonça in the 45th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
