Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Baltazar Valadares in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Fabiano Palmeira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 10th minute, Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's Délio Braga dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 18th minute Marcel Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fabiano Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Aírton Sabóia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 23 minutes, Délio Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Délio Braga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aírton Sabóia got free with Nuno Valadares in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aírton Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Nuno Valadares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Délio Braga took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Nuno Valadares to make any attempt to save it. In the 33rd minute Vivaldo Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fabiano Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Valadares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Délio Braga in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Baltazar Valadares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Valadares made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Aírton Sabóia sent off a good shot on target. Délio Braga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nuno Valadares having to make a save. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's Luiz Fabiano Palmeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Monteiro in the 46th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vivaldo Arósio was the one to do the kick off. José Augusto da Mata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vivaldo Arósio in the 74th minute of play forced Grêmio Esportivo Brasil's goalkeeper Luiz Fabiano Palmeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fabiano Palmeira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vivaldo Arósio's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Luiz Fabiano Palmeira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Grêmio Esportivo Brasil were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
