Zé Pedro Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benê Maranhense in the 5th minute of play. In the 8th minute Magno Catarinense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, Wilton Corrêa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Limeira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fluminense FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Limeira's Wilton Corrêa got a free kick in the 9th minute. Vítor Donato's late challenge caught a Fluminense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vítor Donato helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th match minute, Limeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Donato to maneuver through the defense. Betão Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 28 minutes, Mário Jacinto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fluminense FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mário Jacinto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Márcio Cruz struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Danilo da Rocha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fluminense FC. After having played for 32 minutes, Guga Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Limeira's Ulisses Messias got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Mário Jacinto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Danilo da Rocha was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Ulisses Messias made the kick off in the second half. Mário Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo da Rocha having to interfere. Magno Catarinense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Limeira's Benê Maranhense got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mário Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo da Rocha having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Limeira's zone, Guga Pimenta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo da Rocha came out of the goal and Guga Pimenta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Guga Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 77 played minutes Betão Paiva rounded Limeira's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-1. Limeira's Wilton Corrêa got his second yellow card of the match in the 80th minute. The referee ordered Wilton Corrêa off the ground. In the 80th minute, one of Limeira:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Limeira. A collision led to Fluminense FC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ernesto Souto hit a great ball. In the 89th minute, Fluminense FC's Mário Jacinto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Danilo da Rocha. Danilo da Rocha yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Márcio Cruz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out.
