Luizão de Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Renato Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Franklin da Cunha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Ermo EC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. José Maria Mesquita hit a great ball. In the 12th minute of the match Ulysses Marques sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardinho Abreu skillfully saved the ball. If Victor Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victor Carioca blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardinho Abreu having to make a save. Ricardinho Abreu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erik de Andrade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iuri Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Franklin da Cunha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. The supporters of Ermo EC booed when Hakuna Matata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Iuri Sousa came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Ermo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iuri Sousa couldn't finish the play. Hakuna Matata's Luizão de Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Erik de Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hakuna Matata's Victor Carioca in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ermo EC's goalie prevented a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 60thth minute of the game Renato Sarmento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hakuna Matata's Franklin da Cunha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Franklin da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. With an all-out effort, Hakuna Matata's Ricardinho Abreu threw himself towards the right post 65 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Erik de Andrade, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 66 minutes into the match, Ermo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Erik de Andrade came free, but Ricardinho Abreu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Aírton Paulista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 73 minutes into the match, Ulysses Marques sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Ricardinho Abreu threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Ulysses Marques this time. After a defensive mix-up in Ermo EC's zone, Erik de Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardinho Abreu came out of the goal and Erik de Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Victor Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardinho Abreu having to interfere. Ricardinho Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik de Andrade in the 88th minute of the match. Aírton Paulista struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Franklin da Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ermo EC. After a defensive mix-up in Hakuna Matata's zone, Aírton Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franklin da Cunha came out of the goal and Aírton Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Victor Carioca might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricardinho Abreu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victor Carioca ran back to his position shaking his head. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
