When Luiz Sergipano came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Zequinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Sergipano couldn't finish the play. 24 minutes into the match, Baete's goalkeeper Lauro Torres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eusébio Moraes. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Eusébio Moraes put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Lauro Torres. Eusébio Moraes struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Lauro Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zequinha. Baete's Lauro Torres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Baete from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Baete booed when Zequinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Sergipano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Lauro Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Baete's Hugo Lopez got a free kick in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a rather tough play, Baete's Oswaldo Massa got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 56th minute of the match Abelardo Sá shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lauro Torres showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luiz Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Torres having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Oswaldo Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lauro Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Sergipano in the 64th minute of play. After 65 minutes, Valdir Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zequinha and the Baete players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lauro Torres was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Zequinha fully deserved thier win.
