When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Vito Freitas took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Dalmo Vides to make any attempt to save it. In the 20th minute, José Paulo Leme made a precise shot to the right of Robinho Linares. Ultras E.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. With his leg Dalmo Vides managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Ultras E.C's Vito Freitas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Zézinho Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Corumbalina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zézinho Bertassi couldn't finish the play. Robinho Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Gustavo de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ultras E.C booed when Corumbalina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delfim Nogueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ultras E.C's Robinho Linares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Bertassi in the 43rd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vito Freitas was the one to do the kick off. Zézinho Bertassi hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Jerônimo Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ultras E.C booed when Corumbalina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute Zézinho Bertassi suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cássio Negri during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leonel Velasco, 66 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Dalmo Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vito Freitas in the 68th minute of play. If Luís Gustavo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Gustavo de Castro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robinho Linares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Carlos Vidal charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Vidal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ultras E.C's Carlos Vidal got a free kick in the 81st minute. Luís Gustavo de Castro's late challenge caught a Ultras E.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Gustavo de Castro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd match minute, Corumbalina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Gustavo de Castro to maneuver through the defense. In the 85thth minute of the game Vito Freitas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corumbalina's Dalmo Vides was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 88th minute by Armandinho Teixeira got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 90 minutes into the match, Ultras E.C's Jerônimo Mattos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dalmo Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vito Freitas in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dalmo Vides saved Corumbalina from getting behind.
