In the 8th minute, Sebastião Alvarenga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Toninho Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gugu Duarte struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Edinho Rosa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Meaipe. If Gugu Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldinho Damião showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastião Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. SC Corinthians Paulista's Edinho Rosa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save SC Corinthians Paulista from getting a goal against them. Edinho Rosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gugu Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Edinho Rosa came out of the goal and Toninho Paraibano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gugu Duarte was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 45th minute. Meaipe's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 47 minutes into the match, SC Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Gugu Duarte came free, but Edinho Rosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gugu Duarte to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Gugu Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edinho Rosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Meaipe's Gugu Duarte sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edinho Rosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edinho Rosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gugu Duarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Toninho Paraibano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edinho Rosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Edinho Rosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho Paraibano in the 85th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, SC Corinthians Paulista's goal looked a bit too open when Gugu Duarte came free, but Edinho Rosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Terra hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Gugu Duarte's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edinho Rosa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Meaipe's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
