Jaime Moreno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clube Atlético Riacho's Murilo Leal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Clube Atlético Riacho from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Clube Atlético Riacho's Aírton Carneiro got a free kick in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the Clube Atlético Riacho defense, Anselmo Costa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Murilo Leal. The Clube Atlético Riacho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Murilo Leal should have stopped the shot. Willian Camargo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaime Moreno's shot from short distance in the 46th minute.

Lenílson de Azevedo hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 59th match minute, Clube Atlético Riacho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aírton Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. Murilo Leal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir de Barros in the 62nd minute of play. Paulo José Nascimento's late challenge caught a Clube Atlético Riacho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo José Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Clube Atlético Riacho booed when Angels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo José Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes in the game, Gilson Arce fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Willian Camargo having to interfere. Dinei Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Clube Atlético Riacho's zone, Anselmo Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Murilo Leal came out of the goal and Anselmo Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Moreno got free with Willian Camargo in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 85th minute Jaime Moreno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willian Camargo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Jaime Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube Atlético Riacho's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Moreno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Willian Camargo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir de Barros in the 95th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Riacho's goalkeeper Murilo Leal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Angels's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson Arce came free, but Willian Camargo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
