AA Serginho MZC's Valdir Ferreira shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 8th minute of play. The shot was stopped by João Gaúcho but with some difficulty. João Gaúcho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conrado Vale in the 10th minute. If Silvério Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matheus Prado in the 22nd minute of play forced AA Serginho MZC's goalkeeper José Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raimundo Gonçalves hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. José Cordeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvério Tróia went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Gonçalves in the 37th minute of play forced Goias EC's goalkeeper João Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute, Matheus Prado made a precise shot to the right of José Cordeiro. AA Serginho MZC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After having played for 44 minutes, Matheus Prado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goias EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matheus Prado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Luiz Fabiano Brito struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. José Cordeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goias EC. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind AA Serginho MZC's goalkeeper José Cordeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Silvério Tróia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Cordeiro having to interfere. Silvério Tróia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. José Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Valdir Ferreira fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AA Serginho MZC's protests and gave Valdir Ferreira a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 minutes of play AA Serginho MZC's Valdir Ferreira was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of AA Serginho MZC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Goias EC:s goal. In the 66th minute there was a penalty for Goias EC. Matheus Prado stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving José Cordeiro. 1-4. The supporters of Goias EC booed when AA Serginho MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrado Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Silvério Tróia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute, Chico Arantes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Cordeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. After 86 minutes, Chico Arantes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Goias EC and the AA Serginho MZC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 86th match minute, Goias EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chico Arantes to maneuver through the defense. João Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Falcão Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Gaúcho having to interfere. Silvério Tróia might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over José Cordeiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvério Tróia ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of AA Serginho MZC booed when Goias EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matheus Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Goias EC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
