Bacasable FC's Dieguinho Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Peixoto in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd match minute, Nordestina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandro Duarte to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Nordestina's zone, Juan Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armandinho Tróia came out of the goal and Juan Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Luciano de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bacasable FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luciano de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lenílson de Sena charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lenílson de Sena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Bacasable FC booed when Nordestina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenílson de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Armandinho Tróia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luciano de Queiroz in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the match, Bacasable FC's Luciano de Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armandinho Tróia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Aguiar in the 48th minute of play forced Nordestina's goalkeeper Armandinho Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan Aguiar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nordestina's Sandro Duarte got his second yellow card of the match in the 97th minute. The referee ordered Sandro Duarte off the ground. A collision led to Nordestina getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Sandro Duarte hit a great ball.
