After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Afonso Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baiaozinho's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laércio Souto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Afonso Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laércio Souto having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Afonso Gomes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laércio Souto. FC Morgenau's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Afonso Gomes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 16 played minutes Baiaozinho got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Varela. Dorival Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Laércio Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oscar Paranaense struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Oswaldo de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Morgenau. In the 44th minute Dorival Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laércio Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fellipe Linares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Baiaozinho were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
