Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Afonso Gomes in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Osmar Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 2-1 became the score in the 17th minute when Vitinho Nogueira elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Osmar Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osmar Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The supporters of Caveira Taubate FC booed when Baiaozinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jânio Fantini didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Caveira Taubate FC's Dedê Arósio got a free kick in the 31st minute. Adhemar Varela hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Afonso Gomes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Baiaozinho's Dorival Paiva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osmar Varela narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th minute of the match Baiaozinho got a corner. Caveira Taubate FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alfredo de Medeiros ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Baiaozinho's Alfredo de Medeiros to fire away a dangerous shot which Osmar Varela despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Oswaldo de Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitinho Nogueira in the 56th minute of the match. Afonso Gomes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Varela having to interfere. Vitinho Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dorival Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Osmar Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Caveira Taubate FC's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Gomes came free, but Osmar Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdir Sarmento charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valdir Sarmento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dorival Paiva struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Osmar Varela didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Baiaozinho. Despite being the better team, Baiaozinho failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
