Osmar Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dé Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Natanael Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Osmar Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafinha Mendes made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Dráuzio Galvão sent off a good shot on target. Osmar Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dé Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Natanael Ceresso in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Osmar Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 26th minute, Vitinho Nogueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Osmar Varela came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Laurentino da Gama's Dé Corrêa. But to his dismay, Dé Corrêa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Vitinho Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Laurentino da Gama's goalkeeper Rafinha Mendes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dráuzio Galvão. Dráuzio Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Rafinha Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osmar Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dé Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Natanael Ceresso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vitinho Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafinha Mendes having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Laurentino da Gama got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Luz. Rafinha Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vitinho Nogueira's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Valdir Sarmento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Caveira Taubate FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laurentino da Gama the free kick. The supporters of Laurentino da Gama booed when Caveira Taubate FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osmar Varela stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Natanael Ceresso's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Natanael Ceresso struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Osmar Varela didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laurentino da Gama. 76 minutes into the match, Vitinho Nogueira notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Laurentino da Gama's Rafinha Mendes. Rafinha Mendes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dé Corrêa got free with Osmar Varela in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Osmar Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matías Mattos in the 83rd minute of the match. After having played for 85 minutes, Vitinho Nogueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caveira Taubate FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vitinho Nogueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vitinho Nogueira in the 94th minute of play forced Laurentino da Gama's goalkeeper Rafinha Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
