Abelardo das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Adelino Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernani Nunes in the 10th minute of play forced Da Matta E.C.'s goalkeeper Adelino Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Da Matta E.C.'s zone, Abelardo das Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adelino Barbosa came out of the goal and Abelardo das Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Da Matta E.C. getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Nuno Dante hit a great ball. Da Matta E.C.'s Adelino Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo das Neves in the 25th minute of play. When Abelardo das Neves came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Revolution FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abelardo das Neves couldn't finish the play. Ernesto Neiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adelino Barbosa having to interfere. In the 38th minute Abelardo das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Revolution FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernesto Neiva to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute Gilberto Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Tepedino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abelardo das Neves made a kick off. Adelino Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo das Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 65th minute, Ernesto Neiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes into the game, Hernani Nunes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Adelino Barbosa. Hernani Nunes showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abelardo das Neves in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adelino Barbosa saved Da Matta E.C. from getting behind. 78 minutes into the match, Revolution FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gilberto Meira came free, but Hélio Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abelardo das Neves in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adelino Barbosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 92nd minute, Gilberto Meira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hélio Tepedino was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1.
